OUTLOOK GLOOMY

UNSKILLED WORKERS IN EXCESS OF REQUIREMENTS. Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 22. Industrial conditions in Dunedin and throughout the province are bad. there being a marked dearth in the ,domand for artisans and unskilled workers. It is estimated that over 200 men are unemployed, and about a hundred workers are only employed fitfully owing to the wintry weather and the limited nature of the works in hand. No public works of magnitude are going forward. The general verdict is that unless public bodies, private companies, and enterprising citizens can provide sources of labour a bitter winter is ahead of many artisans and labourers.
