FALSE PRETENCES
YOUNG MAN SENTENCED. Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 22. What was described by tho police as a particularly mean case of taise pretences came before Mr Bartholomew, S.M.. this morning, when a young man named "William Gwynne was charged that, by representing that - he worked in the “Daily Times” office, he oh tained board to the value of £4.' Ho was further cliarged with obtaining 10s from the landlord by saying ho was a member of the Alhambra Football Club. Accused went out every morning, pretending he was going to work.
The Magistrate sent accused to gaol for five weeks.
