The Hon. W. H. Herries retained from Nelson .last evening. The Hon. J. Allen is at New Plymouth with General Sir lan Hamilton, and will return with him this evening by the New, Plymouth express. The Hon. Dr Pomaie and bis party will arrive at Rarotonga by the Tntanekai to-morrow afternoon. The other Ministers are in Wellington.

The Hon. E. Farrar, M.L.C., ami Mr H. C. Macho, of Now South. Wales, arrived in Wellington, from Sydney by the Willochra yesterday, and are ah present staying at the Grand Hotel. They will combine business with pleasure, and make a hurried tour of the Dominion before leaving on their return journey in about a fortnight's time.

Some further changes in the Roman Catholic clergy are announced. The Rev. Father Burger, who is wellknown in Greymouth and Kumara, and who has been assisting the Rev. Father Aubry in the Waimato parish for three or four years, has boon transferred to St. Mary’s, Christchurch. His work in Waimato will he token up by the Rev. Father Diguan, S.M., of Christchurch. The death is announced of Mr John R-eardon, at Waikouaiti, Otago, which took place at 2 p.m. yesterday. Mr M. J. Reardon, secretary of the Wellington General Labourers’ Union,, is a son of the deceased, who leaves a widow, two sons and two daughtore. The late Mr Reardon, who was about eighty-five years of age, suffered a stroke of paralysis last Friday. He was one of the oldest identities of Otago, arriving thero by the ship .Silistria from Glasgow in 1861. Mr M. J. Roardon left for south by the Wahine lust night.

At a meeting of the advisory committee of the* Wellington Training College yesterday morning. Mr Robert Lo® announced that he was about to resign the chairmanship, and was also relinquishing the position of chairman of the Wellington Education Board, in view of his intended departure on ft trip to tho Old Country. Mr Tee, who has a record of fifty years' service in tho cause of education in this country, referred in terms of regret to lha necessity for his severing his connection with the committee, with all the members of which he had enjoyed harmonious relations, and all of whom j were directly in touch with primary education. Professor Ilankine Brown moved, and Mr Gilbert Carson (Wanganui) seconded: ‘•That the chairman's 1 resignation bo accepted ivith regret, and that the committee place on the minutes its recognition of his valuable services in tho cause of education." Mr William Lock (Mayor of Nelson) spoke of his long acquaintance with Mr. Lee, , and testified to tho great aid he - had rendered to educational progress.
