SIR IAN HAMILTON

INSPECTS NORTHERN HARBOUR DEFENCES, Press Association. AUCKLAND May 14. In inspection of the harbour defences of Auckland was made by General Sir lan Hamilton, accompanied by tho Minister for Defence and General Godley, this morning. The General visited the three forts, and the

inspection was most thorough. Firing from tho heavy guns was done by territorial and permanent artillerymen. Sir lan Hamilton did not address the troops, except at Fori; Cautley where ho said that as far as ho could judge, ■.he shooting was good. In the afternoon, tho General visited the Veterans’ Home and tho Colonial Ammunition Company’s works.

To-night he left for Napier. Ho inspects tho cadets at Hastings on Saturday.
