WOOL SALES

Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 13. The fourth and final wool sale of this season’s series was held this afternoon, when 2032 bales were catalogued. There was a fair attendance of buyers. The wool mostly comprised odd lots held oyer from the previous sale, and there were also a few late shorn clips. There was g<jiod competition for halfbreds and crossbreds, and prices were somewhat firmer than at the previous sale. The improvement in prices was best shown in the sale of paseed-in lots at the February sale. Some lots of halfbreds brought Ijd more, and smaller advances were made in other lots of halfbreds and crossbreds. The woollen mills were not operating to any extent in merinos, and in most of best lots were passed in, while inferior and earthy lots were competed for by local wool scourers. Lambs’ wool, of which there was a fair quantity offered, sold very irregularly, and a number of lots failed to reach the reserves. The range of
