INDIAN SENSATION

A sensation has been caused in the High Court. a jury or six Indians and three Europeans acquitted a student named Roy' on a charge of murdering ' Inspector Ghose, by 6 votes to 3 and acquitted him of the murder of a spectator by 6 to 4. They were unable to agree on the question of the culpable homicide of the spectator. The judge ordered a re-trial. The defence argued that Roy’s case was prejudiced by the police publicly giving rewards to witnesses of the crime for the capturing of the accused whom the police styled a murderer. -
