SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY
“NO ALLIANCE WITH LIBERALS.” A meeting o£ the national executive of the- Social Democratic party was held yesterday, Mr H. Hunter (Christchurch) presiding. Referring to the repeated assertions that some sort of mutual agreement must-he made by the Social Democratic .-party with' the Liberal' party, it was unanimously resolved. “That in no case will the executive of the Social Democratic , party consent to consider any such proposal. The constitutional requirements of 500 members in any Parliamentary district, and of a number equal to 10 per cent, of the number of votes in any preceding election in any municipality as a condition to making any nomination will be adhered to. Where these requirements are complied with the Social Democratic party will contest the field against all comers; where they are not complied with the party will not only nominate, but it will .oppose every candidate nominated in the name of Labour in any other - way. Any statement made by any person in favour of a contrary position has been unauthorised and is distinctly repudiated by this executive.” ’■
