A FATAL FALL

MAX DROPS FORTY FEET. Press Association.CHRISTCHURCH, March 11. About 10.60 this morning a man was found at the foot of an embankment in Simeon quay, Lyttelton, close to the buildings <jf the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company. The man, who was identified 'as Colin Campbell, a fireman, was picked up in a semi-conscious condition and removed to the casualty ward, where he was attended to. He was found to be Buffering from a compound fracture of the right arm and was in a very weak state, due to exposure, having apparently lain out all night. The embankment over which the unfortunate man fell was about forty feet high; He is' believed to be a single man, and, so far as it known, has no relatives- in the Dominion. Campbell died from his infuries at about 11.50.
