FATHER SAUBA’S MISSION
POPE DISPENSES WITH ELECTION. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyrlglu PARIS, February 11. Modernists were recently victorious in the councils of the Order of St. Vincent. A minority appealed to Rome, the result being Father Sauba’s mission. The Pope, dispensing with an election, nominated Brother Des Eosseeu, aged thirty-five years, as Superior of the Order. He has been a member of the Order for five years. _ IA recent cable message from Rome announced that French prelates had protested to tho Pope against the language used towards them by Father Sauba. The latter was sent to Franco as an Apostolic visitor, and, without the knowledge of the Archbishop of Paris, he deposed the Superior-Gene-ral of the Brothers of St, \ moent do Paul, on the ground of the weakness of his rule. The members of the Order protested vigorously against the summary deposition of their Superior. Painful scenes marked the ceremony at which Father Sauba announced his decision. A hundred brothers have asked to be released from the society.}
