AN AUCKLAND REQUEST. Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 10The cliairnjfin of the Auckland Harbour Hoard, at a meeting held to-day, moved that the Union Steam Ship Company be requested to reconsider the suspension of the Auckland-Tongan service, as the matter vitally affected the trade of the port. Recently the board’s by-laws were amended in order to encourage the island transhipment trade, which it was found was being diverted to Sydney. The suspension of. the service would ruin the trade entirely, and would not only prejudice the import trade, but would also prejudice The valuable export trade whiph had been carried on between Auckland and Tonga- . . j The motion was carried unanimously.
