By Telegraph-Press Association—ICopyTishl 1 CopyTishl (Times— Sydney "Sun” Special Cables.) (Received February 3, 5.20 p.m.) PARIS, February 2. Seven warships which sank after the battle of La Hogue have since been undisturbed. A contractor, hoping to make a profit out of 1084 guns on board tho ships, has applied for permission to carry out salvaging operations. The naval authorities have invited tenders for tho work. [La Hogue (correctly Hague) is in the north-west of France. Here occurred the battle of La Hogue on May 19th, 1692, when the English and Dutch fleets, under Admirals Russell and Rooko, defeated tho French fleet, under Admiral Tourville. The English burned thirteen of the enemy’s ships and destroyed eight more, thus preventing a descent upon England."|
