THAT SUNDAY CHARGE MR GEORGE ELLIOTT SPEAKS. UNFAIR TO INTERFERE WITH RESOLUTION. Press Association. February 2. A contribution has now been made by tho president of the Auckland Exhibition (Mr George Elliott) to tho controversy in Wellington regarding the proposal to chargo fixed prices of admission for tho concert to be given by tho Royal Artillery Band in Wellington on Sunday afternoon. Mr Elliott telegraphed to Mr J. P. Luko to-r.ight pointing out that tho proposed chargo will not endanger the good feeling now existing between Auckland and Wellington. No objections would have been raised in Auckland had the Wellington public authorities desired to recoup some of the heavy outlay incurred in giving such a unique musical treat to- tho people desirous of having it. Such good feeling was far more likeiy to bo prejudiced if tho resolution, acted upon in good® faith and at some considerable expense, was set aside for no further cause or reasons than those which wore existent at tho time tho resolution was passed. Whilst deeply appreciating the Mayor’s personal conscientious objections, Mr Elliott felt sure that upon further consideration he would see that it would bo most unfair at the present juncture to interfere with tho council’s previous resolution.
