THE WRECKED TYRONE

BATTERED BY SEAS FORWARD PORTION DISAPPEARS. Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 3, The big seas round the coast for the past few days have played havoc with the wrecked Tyrone. The forward portion has bodily disappeared. Though big waves were washing along the decks on Saturday, the two men standing by decided not to vacate the wreck. Instead of the seas subsiding their violence increased. A survey about 2 a.m. showed that the forward part of the vessel had disappeared, and at daylight it was seen that the suspension bridge to the rocks had been swept away, that two lifeboats had been smashed, and that the motor launch was swamped. _ About 5 a.m. the two men made their way through the surf and by the aid of a line between the ship and the shore gained the rocks in safety. It is said there will he little salvaging to do when the sea subsides.
