M. JULES CLAIIETIB. Or Telegraph—Proes iuoclatlon- CoprrJeM PARIS, December 25. M. Jules Olarotio, director of the Comedie Francais, is dead. [M. Jules Arsene Arnaud Claretio was horn at Limoges, in December, 1840, and received his education at the Bonaparte Lyceum, Paris. He was for some time war correspondent in Italy and at Metz, and was an officer of the Legion of Honour. He was a member of the French Academy, and also held the position of hon. president of tho Society of the Gentlemen of Letters and of the French Revolutionary Society. The late M. Claretio had many publications to his credit, and was a playwright of some note, his plays including several dramas and comedies, and also two operas. At the time of his death he was director of the Comedie Francais (a position he had held since 1885) and a member of the Parisian Journalists’ Association of Republican Journalists.] THE INVENTOR OF THE DREADNOUGHT. ROME, December 23. Tbe death is announced of General Vittorio Cuneberti, inventor of the Dreadnought.
