THE CARNIVAL FUND
ONLU THREE SCHEMES TO BM CONSIDERED. The committee deputed to decide th* direction in which tho £IBOO raised at the Citizens’ Easter Carnival is to be expended met last night. The Mayor, Mr J. P. Luke, presided. Consideration was given to various schemes - which had been postponed, an dit was decided to reduce the number to three, from which tho final selection is to be made. These are the • three: 0 ) Pirie street reserve, (2) improvement of tho town belt at Nairn street, (3) construction of roads along the harbour side of the hills in the town ' belt. It was decided to consider the three schemes on the ground next Wednesday, When tho committee will be accompanied by the city engineer, tho city forester, and, tho superintendent; of reserves. The final selection will be made as soon afterwards as possible.
