CAPTAIN OF CHARON FINED £7OO. (Received February 27, 9.15 p.m.) FREMANTLE, February 27. The captain of tho steamer Charon was fined £7OO in connection with the discovery of seven Chinese stowaways aboard. Evidence showed that they existed for three weeks in cavities scooped in coal where they were unable-, to stand upright., Chinese members of the cr-sw lowered food and water to them. It was disclosed that a relative of ono of tho stowaways, previously attempting to roach Australia hidden in ooal, was 'suffocated when tho steamer was fumigated.
