GOVERNMENT HOUSE

PROTRACTED LITIGATION EXPECTED. CASE BRISTLES WITH TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. (Received February 24, 9.6 p.m,) SYDNEY, February 24. A specially constituted tribunal, consisting of the Chief Justice and three Judges has commenced hearing an injunction application on behalf of the Citizens’ Committee in connection with the alleged eviction of the GovernorGeneral and the taking over of Government House by the State Government. The case bristles with technical difficulties. The main question involved in whether the Government has power to occupy a property for State purpose* which is claimed to have been dedicated as a residence for the King’s representative. > Counsel for the Government raised the point that, though used as a residence by the Governor, there was actually no dedication for that purpose. The proceedings are likely to be protracted.
