The Minister of Public 'vorw tho Hon W Fraser, visited the VVinton district on Saturday and received several deputations on railway and other m Reniving to a request for the construction of the Winton-Heddon Bush line, Mr Fraser said he cou.d not make any promises. Many Imes in the Dominion had been authorised, but not a shilling was available for them, and it might be from sis to eight years before some could be started. The Government was not going to pay 6 or 7 per cent, for money, and public works would have to wait if such a rate had to be paid. The Minister goes to Gore on Mondav, Edendale on Tuesday, and Balcliitha on Tuesday evening.
