JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD
The JohnsonvUle Town Board met last evening, when there were present Oomtnissioners P. T. Moore (chairman). May, Thompson, Jerusalem, Angell and Parker. The contractors for the board's pumping plant and engine attended and expressed their opinion that the reason why the pump did not throw the required head of water was that the foot valve originally sent out by the makers was replaced by one of a smaller diameter at the engineer’s request. After a long discus sion an agreement was come to that, should the replacing of the original valve give the necessary quantity of water, the cost of alterations be defrayed by the board; but if otherwise by the contractors. The board was unanimously of opinion that the time had arrived when the entire services of a clerk were required, and it was resolved to advertise for one. The clerk was instructed to notify the sanitary contractor of the cessation of his contract on February 28th next. The chairman appealed to the ratepayers to form themselves into a vigilance committee to protect their property from being disfigured by vandals.
