MUTILATING LETTERS SUFFRAGETTES “NOT MILITANT ENOUGH.” By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright LONDON, December 3Policemen are engaged' at night time guarding post offices, and pillar-boxes in Central London. The contents of many boxes in Clubland were defaced, and three hundred letters were mutilated in the pillarboxes at tho Royal Exchange to-night. Mrs Pankhurst, addressing it meeting in London at the Opera House, said: “We have not yet been militant enough.’ Mr Lansbury (late member of Tower Hamlets) confessed that he had qualms about tho pillar-box and other campaigns. PRISON BEFORE FINE. SHOUTS FROM THE DOCK. LONDON, December 3. Tho Aberdeen suffragettes, who were fined twenty shillings, or five days’ gaol, have gone to prison. Evidence was given that women were secreted in the pay-box of tho musichall where Mr Lloyd George hold his meeting, for twelve hours. Accused shouted a protest from the dock, and one had to be forcibly ejected. DAMAGING THE CAUSE. MR LLOYD GEORGE FAVORS NORWBGLAN SYSTEM. LONDON, December 3. Mr Lloyd George, in addressing the Welsh members of the House of Commons, said that tho attitude of tho militant suffragettes towards the Premier made it difficult for some members of tho Cabinet to support women’s suffrage. Personally ho favored tho Norwegian system. ANTAGONISING PUBLIC OPINION. (Received December 4, 11 p.m.) LONDON, December 4. Mr Lloyd George, replying to a Welsh women’s suffrage demonstration, said that tho prospect of an amendment to tho Franchise Bill in favor of women’s suffrage was less propitious now than a year ago, owing to the militants antagonising public opinion. .
