EMPIRE MOVEMENT AMONG TEACHERS. Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 4. A letter has been received by the chairman of the Education Board (Mr G. J. Garland) from the organising secretary of- the ‘" Hands Across the Sea ” movement among school teachers in Canadi (Mr F. Neyl. in reply to an invitation to visit Auckland. Mr Noy mentions in his letter that 300 Canathan teachers paid their first visit- to the Old Country last summer, ..nearly half of them proceeding on to the British possessions in - the Mediterranean and Egypt. Ho is now hoping to wtango for a complete tour of the Empire by representatives of all the. Canadian provinces and Newfoundland-. Mr Ney says that he is writing to'. the Education Department of New Zealand, and ha feels assured that, if all the overseas Dominions will join, the movement must become a most powerful factor from every point of view. He proposes, wherever possible, that Canadian and Newfoundland members should join np with their oversea colleagues en route, and thus complete the remainder of their journey in company. He had already arranged for a number of Egyptian and Maltese teachers to visit Canada during the summer of 1913, and he looked forward with , the greatest-of pleasure to welcoming also a number from New Zealand.
