THEFT OF JEWELLERY

BOXER “KID” McOOY IN A NEW ROLE. LONDON, August 2. “Kid” McCoy, the well-known boxer, has been charged on extradition proceedings with stealing £12,000 worth of jewels belonging to Princess Thuanunaxis at the Palace Hotel, Ostend. The thieves took a room adjoining the Princess’s suite, and entered a bedroom while tho princess was in the bathroom. They overlooked other jewellery worth £IBO,OOO, including an £BO,OOO necklace. Three others have been arrested in Belguim. McCoy was allowed bail in the sum of £3OOO. His counsel stated that McCoy was staying at tho Hotel Cecil and that the charge rested on the unsupported allegation of a suspected woman.
