HUNTERVILLE GUN CLUB. SPECIAL TO THE ••TIMES.” FEILDING. August 3. The Hunterville Gun Club’s open handicap was fortunately favoured with good weather. Twenty-nine competitors faced the referee in the big match, \\ ouganui, Alarton, Waituna, Mangarimu and feeding being represented. Some fine performances were'put up. The match resulted in a win for N. Ashton, of Wanganui, who broke all his birds, thus taking the prize, which was a valuable gun built by Hoder, the English gunmaker. B. Short, of Waituna, took tho second prize, valued at .£2 10s, and O'Brien, of Feilding, third (Mr Ellis’s trophy). After the big match a scries of sweeps was held, which resulted:—W. J. Beard, Peep-o’-day, 1; H. A. Haycock, R-angia-wahia, 2; W. .1. Chisholm, Hunterville, 3.
A second sweep was won by B. Signal!, of Rewa, J. W. Chisholm, Hunterville, being second, and A. Coe, Wanganui, third.
A box sweep was shot off from twentyfive yards, J. Melrom, Hunterville, being .first, and L. H. Ashton, Wanganui, second.
The club provided an excellent for the shooters, which was fully appreciated.
