MERELY HYSTERIA
NOT A CASE OF POISONING. MESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 30. A peculiar case reported yesterday wa* that of a young woman, a Miss Loughnan. who had been admitted' to Auckland Hospital early on Sunday morning, and who, it was thought, was suf- ' fenng from the effects of poison taken by mistake in a cup of tea. ■ The friend at whose house Miss Loughnan took ill informs us that she did not paiAake of any tea while there, but manifested i symptoms of illness soon after reaching his residence, where she had duly culled on a biief visit to himself and bis wife, wiih no intention of staying for the night. Inquiry at the hospital to-day elicited the information that the medical officers now believe the case to bo one merely of .hysteria, and there is no ground foi supposing that the patient had partaken of poison. ;
