LOVE-LORN SUICIDE’S ADDRESS TO HIS SWEETHEART.
A farewell address to Trie sweetheart was found on the drowned body of John Eichard Broadbent, of Wandsworth (Eng.), on whom an inquest was held last month. Broadbent left home on May 16th, and his body was recovered from the Thames a week later.
Amy Terrell said she had "walked out” with him for five months. She last saw him alive three weeks prior to his body being found. He toid her, he was out of work. She received from him later a letter stating, “I expect by the time you see this I SHALL BE GONE. I am only writing to say good-bye.” A constable sa-d that on the body was found a piece of paper on which were written lines beginning:— "I would be happy, oh, so happy. If Daisy would oome back to mo. But what is the good of wishing for impossibilities? Nobody knows how I love her. She was the darling of my heart ; I never thought when I met her That we should have to part.”' . The word "rotten” followed, written in parentheses.
