"Writing to a compatriot, Captain Couceiro, the leader of the hand of Portuguese Royalists, expresses disappointment and disillusionment at the failure of the rising of his disbanded followers. He has broken his sword, and proceeds to London to give an account of his efforts to ex-King Manuel and Dom Miguel.
