Mr Fraser, Federal PostmasterGeneral, announced in the House of Representatives that after protracted negotiations tho Government had been unable to arrive at a position justifying tho payment for patent rights to cither tho Marconi or tho Telefimken wireless systems. The urgency of establishing wireless telegraphy would not justify the Government in delaying any longer, and it intended to erect stations round tho coast, beginning at Melbourne, then at Hobart, and also to connect Port [Moresby cither with Cooktown or Thursday Island. Tho Government might be'compollcd to defend the system, which was named “ The Commonwealth ” ; its expert would register it. If it was found that it infringed other systems, the Government would accept the responsibility for payment for such infringement.

LONDON, December 8.
Tho Marconi Wireless Company has withdrawn tho action a'gainst tbo Tclefunken Company, and substituted another, the claim including damages for alleged infringements of tho lodge patents.
