Tho attendance numbered 5000, and when stumps were drawn the Englishmen had lost eight wickets for 230. Their innings opened disastrously, three wickets falling for no runs. Kinnear’s and Douglas’s defence saved their side, and Hoaruc played sound cricket. The scoring throughout was painfully slow, tlic bowling splendid, and the fielding wretched, several chances being missed.
