DRAUGHTS.

The long-continued absence of Mr J. M. AVilson, hon. secretary for draughts to the Working Men's Club, has kept the game somewhat at a standstill locaif ly for the past two or three months. This is the more unfortunate as arrangements should- by now have been well forward for the championship tourney commencing in this city next Easter. A special general meeting was therefore held last week, when the secretaryship was declared: vacant and Mr H. Gr. Albertson was appointed to the p° s ition. A strong committee was set up to make preparations for the tourney to decide the championship of New Zealand. This committee holds its first meeting next Tuesday.
