A return placed before the House ot Representatives sots out interestingly the industries in-the various towns adjacent to Palmerston North. The return was sought by Mr R. B. Koss, member for Pahiatua, with the object ot ascertaining the horse-power utilised in the various industries. The comparison is as follows: „ Horse-power. In the Feilding district the chief industry is dairying, -which consumes 41i horse-power. In the Palmerston North district dairying accounts for 401 horse-power, pieat-preserving 20 1, and wood-working 294 horse-power. ; In the Woodville district the distribution is dairying 120, moat-preserving 141 horse-power. . At Uannevirke saw-milling occupies chief place—4oo horse-power, dairying coming next with 280 horse-power. In the Eketahuna district saw-milling utilises 505 horse-power. -
