TEMPERANCE ADDRESS.
At the Sydney street schoolroom last evening a temperance address was delivered by Mrs Barton. There was an attendance of about seventy, mostly ladies. At the conclusion a resolution was moved thanking Mrs Barton for her address. Then the following amendment was’ moved; “That this meeting, while thanking Mrs Barton for her interesting lecture, is of opinion that prohibition is an undesirable method of dealing with the liquor question, and is sorry that Mrs Barton holds such pronounced fanatical ideas/' , Tho amendment, on being put to the meeting, was declared defeated, and the original motion carried amid cries of dissenU
