NEW PLYMOUTH LETTER

September 23. Bishop and Mrs Oroeslcy are the guests of Dr and Mra Homo during their stay in New Plymouth Miss Bessie Bayly loft for Auckland and Rotorua on Thursday for a month’s visit. Mr and Mrs Derisley Wood (Ashburton): and -family arc spending a few days here. Mr and Mrs Fitzlicrbort left on Thursday for a mouth or so’s visit to Sydney, for' the benefit of Mr Fltzherbert’s health. Mrs Claude Weston and family have gone to Wanganui for a few weeks’ visit, and aro staying with Mrs O. E, Mackay. Mrs Carthew and Mrs Lysons and her two children leave next week for Hamilton to spend a few weeks with Mrs J. Norris Mias Godfrey and Miss Phyllis Ardon have returned from a visit to Christchurch.

Mrs Miles (Tima/rn) is staying with Miss Muriel Blundell. Mrs Blundell is at present a patient in Miss Baker’s private hospital, where she underwent an operation a few days ago, from which she Is making a satisfactory recovery. Dr Homo motored Bishop and Mrs Crossley to ‘ the Mountain House yesterday. Tho party had a beautiful view of old Egmont enveloped in his winter mantle of snow, and snow lay thickly on the ground right down to the Mountain House for the first time this winter. The Bishop and Mrs Crossley were charmed with the ride through tho magnificent bush on the way up to the Mountain House, and thoroughly enjoyed the outing.

This afternoon an “at home” was tendered Mrs Crossley by the local branch of tho Girls’ Friendly Society, in St. Mary’s

Hall, which had been quite transformed for the occasion. Bewley by 1 up at tho eighteenth hole, after a, very close coutost; Mr Austin Bewioy boat Mr Glasgow by 3 up and 2. Next Saturday tho final will bo played between Mr Johns and Mr A. Bowley. “Our Miss Gibbs” appears at the Theatre’ Royal on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Several prominent members of the coin-' pany are keen golfers, so matches are bo-> lug arranged by the Ngamotu Club during; their stay in New Plymouth.
