CHAU ITT CUP. SEMI-FINAL. Tha semi-final for the Charity Cup was played on To. G, Miramar, on Saturday. The competing teams were Hovers and Y.M.C.A., and despite the fact that forty minutes’ extra time was played, neither side could get a decision. The result was a draw, one goal each. E 1 ford netted HoveiT goal and McKay Y.M.C.A.’s. The high wind blowing was against good Socoor. Hovers won the toss and played with the wind during the first spell, when they scored their only goal, and Y.M.C.A., on getting the wind in their favour, scored one goal. Mr H. Yeoman refereed. ANDREW’S’ MEDAL COMPETITION. FIFTH DIVISION. Marist and Swifts played for tho Andrews medals, and the game ended in a draw, 1 goal each. As Marist only wanted a draw to win, the medals go to this team. PUBLIC SCHOOLS LEAGUE. Marist B and Thorndon played off for second place and a set of medals, Marist won rather easily by 7 goals to nil. Air W. McG. Smith refereed. INSURANCE TEAMS MATCH. The State Guaranteed Advances Office will play tho State Fire Office at 10.30 this morning on No. 6, Miramar. Tho following are tho teams; — State Advances Office—Hntcheson, Curtayne, Glodhill, Vallojioe, Nowbold, Morrison, O’Leary, Black, As tin, White, Doherty. Stato Fire Office—McLean, Newbold, Arthur, Haycraft, Dick, Jones, Pro belt, Inkster, McPherson, Walters. Newton. MARIST SCHOOL’S SUCCESS. On Saturday ’the Marist Brothers’ school, Tasman street, brought to a conclusion what for it has been, a record season. Few clubs can boast of winning in ono season two cups and throe sots of medals (33), and just being defeated in tho final for another cup. Tho fifth A division team have won their cup for tha
third time. They also won. the medals presented by Mr J. F. Andrews.. In the newly-fonned public schools competition, in which there were ten teams, the Marist boys scooped tho pool. The A team aro tho first to hold tho handsome cup presented by tho Thistle club, and are also entitled to the medals presented by Mr Duncan. For being runners-up the Marist B’e take possession of the medals presented by Mr T. Shields, POVERTY BAT DEFEATS HAWKE’S BAY. PEEBS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, September 31. Tbo in ter-provincial Association football match played hero on Saturday between Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay resulted in a win for the latter by 1 goals bo 1.
