COMMITTEE OE INQUIRY LAPSES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 3, 9.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 3. The Select Committee of Inquiry into the affairs of the Australian Jockey Club has lapsed owing to the prorogation of Parliament.
The inquiry, which was to have tJberi. conducted by the committee, was instituted in consequence of certain msuiua»tions as to the conduct of the Jockey Club. The proposal aroused considerable indig nation among the supporters of the club, who contended that tho whole affair was got up for the purpose of annoying and harassing that body.
