THE NEW CASTLE TRAGEDY
ATTORNEY-GENERAL DECLINES .TO PROSECUTE ONE MAN.

The Attorney-General, Mr W. A. Holman, has declined to file a bill against Thomas Jones, one of the men committed for trial on a charge of murdering Ryan at Newcastle. Jones was discharged, but was rearrested on a charge of stealing the revolver with which Ryan was shot.
Th© deceased, whoso name was given in a previous message as McGoise, alias Daly, was found lying on a footpath, pilot through th© head, with a revolver by him. Thomas Jones and Georg© Smith were standing near- Evidence at- the inquest showed that the three men had hcon drinking together. Smith at. first said that Daly had shot himself, hut at the inquest ho said that ho himself was trying to open the revolver when it went off and shot Daly. A man named Alexander Brown identified the revolver as his own, and said ho had missed it after Jones aand Smith had visited his room.
