CANDIDATES AND ELECTORATES MOVING. SPECIAL TO THE “TIMES.” CHIUSTOHTJBCH, .Tuly 28. It is stated that, yielding to pressure brought to bear by the "Deform League,”-Mr Joseph Taylor, of Papanui, who had announced his intention of becoming a candidate for Kaiapoi, has agreed to staid aside in favour of Mr Richard Moore, who has repeatedly suffered defeat at the hands of the present Liberal member, tho Hon. D. Buddo, Minister of Internal Affairs. Mr Taylor has, however, boon asked to hold himself in readiness in case "his services should be required elsewhere. So far nothing has been done in tho direction of selecting a Liberal candidate for Selwyn. Throughout the constituency thero is a - strong feeling that there should bo a change in representation, it being recognised that the electorate as a factor in Now Zealand politics has sunk into oblivion sines the present Conservative member was first returned. Mr Goorra L. Sandrey, of Ruapnna, has been approached by a largo number of electors of tho Ashburton district with a request that he should allow himself to bo nominated for tho scat at tho coming election. Three years ago Mr Sandrey received many similar requests. and had it not boon for an illness which laid Mm aside for somo time ho would then have come forward. The vacancy in the representation of Chriqtch-urch North (Air Taylor’s seat) in Parliament caused by the death of Mr T. E. Taylor, M.P., has been freely discussed_ to-day in the city, but there is a disposition to defer active political work for a few days.
