CLOSED FIRM AT TOP PRICES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, July 26. The wool sales closed firm, at the top prices, of ritho series. The following are the prices realised at the wool sales for the fleece portion of the clips named: Clayton, top price 12d, average lid. Owaoko, 19d and 14Jd. Wadpohi, 13id and 12d. Cairn, 13d and lid. COMPARISONS WITH MAY SERIES (Received July 27, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. At'the wool sales 80,000 hales were sold for the Homo, market, 46,000 for the Continent, and 2500 for America, and 41,000 were held over. Compared with, the May series merinoos closed fully at par, except short carbonising sorts, prices for which were slightly easier. Fine greasy crossbreds advanced 5 per cent. Lower 'grade sorts were very firm at par. Sooureds declined about 10 per cent. Crossbred Jambs wore slightly in sellers’ favour. Merino lambs were about 6 per cent, dearer. The sales included: Denali, lid. Langridge, top. price 9id, average 9Jd. Girassmere, 22jd and 21Jd.
The following private oaMo messages, dated. July 26th, have, been received relative to the London wool sales: — Bank of Now Zealand.—The sales have closed very Arm, and the prospects axe good. The market closes with good demand for coarse crossbreds. The total quantity hoW over is 41,000 bales, of which 30,000 are New Zealand. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd. —Sheepskins—Mcrino combing skins are Jd lower, while crossbred combing skins are Jd lower. There is no demand for clothing skins, which were mostly withdrawn- Wool— The sales closed firm. As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices for greasy super merino wools are par to 6 per cent, higher, wliile greasy average merino wools are unchanged. Heavy, earthy and wasty greasy merino wools’are 5 per cent, lower. Good to fine scoured merino wools are unchanged, and medium and inferior scoured merino wools are par to 5 per cent, lower. Prices for greasy cos-3 brod wool® are unchanged, while scoured crossbred wools are from 6 per cent, to 10 per cent, lower, and slipod crossbred wools are from 5 per cent, to 7* per cent, lower. The total net quantity available amounted to 175.000 bales, of which 2000 bales were sold to America, 86,000 bales were sold for Home consumption, 46,000 bales were sold to the Continent, 30.0G0 bales. were not offered, and 41,000 bales were carried forward. Murray, .Roberta and Co., Ltd.—The sale® have closed weak and irregular. 42,000 bale® being held over. The market shows no chaii'jo for best descriptions of merino and lor greasy crossbred. Scoured crossbreds show a decline of 10 per cent., with a very weak and irregular market. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received cable advice from thoix London agents, dated July 26th, that tho present f*ries of wool sales have dosed at very firm prices. -
