ARREST ON A STEAMER.
PKEBS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, July 15. A North Island fanner named Michael Daniel Murpay was arrested on board the Drayton Urange at Lyttelton, to-day for debt, just as the vessel was about to leave lor .South America aud England. Xhe claims were tor A'SiJ commission on tho sate of his farm, for which judgment hud been obtained, and -L5 cash advanced. Murphy was taken before the magistrate at (jhristchuroh and ordered to pay the amount forthwith, in default two months' imprisonment. He was in possession of a draft for -£3io on a Lonuon bank when taken in custody.
