THE ATTENDANCES COMING WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP. GREAT INTEREST. The attendance at the Exhibition is dally growing, yesterday 1565 persons missing through the turnstiles, making the total to date 123,485. The cash collected during the day amounted to .£34, GODFREY'S PERFORMING BIRDS AND ANIMALS. The Coronation Theatre is nightly well attended, and the feats performed by Professor Godfrey’s trained birds and animals are popular with the public. This morning a special matinee is to bo provided for Lady Islington and the Hon. Joan Dickson-Poynder. EXHIBITION DAY. “BABY SHOW” Folding go-carts, jewel cases, gold medals, etc., are to be awarded as prizes at the "Baby Show" which is to be held next Saturday afternoon in the Stadium. Entries and admission is free, and each of the paying public will be presented with a vuhng card. There is also to be i decorative flower table display, the prizes being so valuable that a large number ol entries are anticipated. There are many more attractions for "Exhibitors’ Day," not the least being the distribution of some thousands of samples of various Dominion-made goods. IN THE STADIUM BOY SCOUT DISPLAY. In order to assist the Hepplo fund a Boy Scout demonstration was given in the Stadium lost evening. A largo number of tickets were sold, but the amount taken is not yet ascertainable as there are a number of scoutmasters who have yet to send in their returns. The entertainment must be written down as r. distinct success, for there was a large attendance of spectators who, judging by their applause, were keenly interested and pleased at the display, and the . whole programme was carried through without a hitch. District-Commander McCleod was in charge of the boys, who carried out their work, which was of a comprehensive and varied nature, in soldierly style. When these lads grow up they would make first-class recruits for the Dominion's field engineering companies, for they have a by no means limited knowledge of bridge-building and other work which is essential to military engineers. The manner in which the various troops erected huts earned much praise. Judging by last night's display the Boy Scout organisation is ; most commendable one, and the scoutmasters deserve great praise for the instruction. they have given. THE TENNIS TOURNAMENT. COMMENCES TO-DAY. At 2 o'clock this afternoon, the ladies' handicap singles tournament will commence. Ail competitors must be reauy at- that hour.’ There should be a large attendance, as some players of repute aro entering. During the last tournament the piay oi the ladies attracted much attention, therefore followers of the game have something good in store to-day. Tho tournament will be continued on Monday night. LIVING BRIDGE. TO-NIGHT'S PROGRAMME. Apart from the spectacle provided , by tue magnificence oi the dresses the game will present a great attraction to lovers of bridge, as tne tour gentlemen (Dr Newman and Messrs J. H. N. A. Burues, lan Duncan and A. E. Whyte) who will be playing tho rubber aro acknowledged co ue amongst the foremost exponents of the game in Wellington. During the evening Mr J. W. M. If the acceptor could not find the money Robertson would bo prepared to wrestle for nothing. Last evening he gave a private demonstration of his muscular development, and the results were really astonishing. Every muscle is under perfect control. To look at hia biceps when relaxed one would think that they were fleshy, but when Robertson contracts them they are as bard as iron. Gardiner is in splendid condition, and as the records of both men are well known in sporting circles the keenest interest Is being manifested in the match. There is no mistaking that it will be a great struggle, and the winner may safely pride himself as having no equal in the .Dominion, The match is for a purse of X2O. NEXT WEEK’S SPORTS MEETING. ENTRIES COMING IN FAST. The sports meeting to be held next Thursday promise to bo the best that have yet been put on at the exhibition. Entries are coming to hand well, and a number of them are from noted performers. Included in the programme will be an- exhibition of sharpshooting, lassoo- ' ing, etc., by Captain McLeod, whose :previous performances were very clever.
