THE WEATHER PROSPECTS

GENERAL FORECAST FOR TO-DAY. (By the Government Meteorologist.) Present indications (5 p.m. Thursday) are for unsettled weather and the development of a southerly storm which may prove of considerable intensity. The change may not take place for about thirty-six hours, but conditions are now somewhat ominous. Moderate to strong westerly winds and changeable weather, with a fall in tho barometer, will probably precede a rapid rise and rain in most parts of the country, with snow on the higher levels.
