MONTHLY MEETING. PEOM OUE OWN COEnESPONDE^T. MASTERTON, July 8. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Masterton A. and I. Association was held this afternoon. Mi W- Perry (president) presiding over i good ateudance of members. ANNUAL BALANCE-SHEET. It was reported <oy the finance committee that the receipts for the year ending Juno 30tb, 1911. amounted to ,£10,783, the principal items being, members’ subscriptions £751 Kb, donations to Solway improvement fund £3ll 111 pd. Sol-may ■ Syndicate donation £ISOO lls 9d, show receipts £lßll 19si’lio total. expenditure was £9323 16s 10d, the chief items being, improvements £SOIB 18s 4d, railway siding £403, show 1 £lß4d 5s 7d, ram fair £lO7 17s 9d, interest £l2B 7s. The assets total £12,746 9s 3d, and tho liabilities £5874 16s 10<I, leaving a balance of £6971 12s sd. RELIEVING SECRETARY. Air J. B. Emmett was appointed to carry out the secretarial duties for six months, the period of leave-otf-abseuco granted to the secretary (Mr G. R. Svkes). who intends to contest the Mastertou seat at the general election. A HANDSOME TROPHY. Mr F. Moore, of Kai Iwi, in a communicatdon to the association, _ said he would be pleased to present a silver rose bowl (valued at twelve guineas) to be allotted as a points prize for fat cattle; the trophy to f>o won twice in succession or three times at intervals. H© would not compete himself. The trophy was accepted with thanks, and it tvas decided, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Piimer, to forward a letter of appreciation to Mr Moore. LECTURE ON STOCK DISEASES. A communication was received from Mr D. H. Roit, M.R.C.V.S., of Palmerston North, asking tho association's permission to deliver a lecture on diseases of stock before members* It was decided to make arrangements to have tho ieOiure delivered on Saturday evening, July 29th. CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY. Mr H. V. Fulton, secretary of > the Otago A. and P. Association, Dunedin, wrote pointing out that a movement was on foot to form a Clydesdale horse society for Now Zealand, and asking the association to support the project. The writer also desired the association to appoint delegates to attend a meeting tc be held in Dunedin in August, at which the matter would bo discussed. It was decided to approve the formation of a Clydesdale society, but tc point out .to the Otago A. and P. Asso-
elation that it a-as too far to send a delegate. PAJIIATUA SHOW. A notification was received from the Pahiatua-Akitio A. and P. Association stating that its annual show would be held on Friday, February 9th, 1919. KBSIGiX ATI OK. Mr 0. B. Pharazyn, formerly of Pea then'ton, who has left for Australia, tendered his resignation as a member. The resignation was accepted. PaiEBEKTATIOK. A presentation of an illuminated address was made by the. committeo to Mr John Strang, cf Gladstone, who is leaving shortly on a trip to England. SHBAKEKG CLASS. Mr H. Kevins waited on the committee in reference to establishing a shearing class for le-amers. It was decided that a committee, consisting ’of Messrs J. Perry, W- Welch, and I). Harper, consult with tho technical school managers in regard to starting a class.
