PLOUGHING MATCH AT MARTON
The gathering of farmers and their assistants who propose to try conclusions regarding their abilities os ploughmen at Marten next ‘Wednesday promises to be a great success. Twenty years ago similar functions were quite common iu that district, but for .various reasons they wore allowed to die out. Feuding farmers, however, set about reviving this useful competition, and Marton followed. At Feuding last week the success of the function exceeded the most sanguine expectation of the management and resulted in arousing enthusiasm to a high pitch. At Fridays sale the talk was all about the ploughing match, and measures will shortly b© taken to form an association for the future control oi the fixture and also to encourage farmers to extend the sphere of its influence. The entries at Marton are even better than at Feilding, and many who were spectators at the latter place last week have signified their intention. to take £ team next AVeduesday. Given fine weather there is eur© to be a largo attendance, and an instructive day*s outing is confidently expected.
