The engagement is announced of Miss Miles, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. H. Miles, to Mr W. Handyside, eldest son of Mx J. S. Handy side, of Hawke's Bay, Miss Lorimex, principal of the Nelson Girls’ College, is staying at Caulfield House. Mr and Mrs F. C. Bmmy (Carterton) axe staying at the Grand. Mrs Graham Jackson (Feilding) is on a visit to Wellington. Mrs Dan Riddifoxd (Marton), who arrived in town last night, is staying at the Royal Oak. Mrs Brown (Bulls) is on a visit to Wellington. Mrs W. Darling and Miss Darling, who have been visiting New Plymouth, have returned. Mirs Borlaso (Ruanui), who arrived in Wellington last evening, is staying at the Royal Oak. Miss Welters (Carterton) is visiting Wellington, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Miss Mary Wilson, Botanical road, Wellington, who has been visiting Palmerston North, has returned to Wellington, and is staying with Mrs H. B. .Tucker at Titahi Bay. Mr and Mrs W. Crichton, who are expected from the north, will also be the guests of Mrs Tucker. . Miss Malcolm (Masterton) is on a holiday visit to Wellington. Miss Munro (Palmerston North) is staying at the Royal Oak. Mr and Mrs Greig (Foxton), who have been visiting Wellington, motored through to Napier yesterday. Mrs Harry Smith (Dunedin) is on a visit to Wellington. Ladies desirous of attending tho Garrison ball to be held next month should lose no time in securing invitations, which can only be obtained through the officers. There are various pleasant rumours abroad concerning the completeness of _ the arrangements and the rather surprising form which they will take.
