HAWES RAILWAY DISASTER

The Hawes railway accident (in which a dozen persons wore killed on Christmas Eve) inguiry resulted in a verdict of accidental death. The jury added that the rule requiring the driver of a pilot engino to inquire from the signalman when ho had been kept waiting an abnormal time had been violated.
