CONCLUSION OP THE CONGRESSIONAL INQUIRY.

Several members expressed tho opinion that Peary's record had not been "faked," and an expert geodetic surveyor who examined his documents testified that in last March Peary passed within one mile of the actual Pole. COMMITTEE APPROVES PEARY'S : . CLAIM. '

The committee approves Peary's claim that ho reached the Pole, and will recommend that the thanks of Congress be awarded Peary, together with the 'rank of rear-admiral (retired). It is expected there will'bo a lively debate in Congress on the committee's proposals. -
