SEW ZEALAND SECOND IN 1330 COMPETITION.

CORONATION MATCH. FROM OCR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. - LONDON, November 11. The results of the Empire Cadet Competition for 1910 were announced this week- The Earl Roberts Imperial Trophy wa* won by the Transvaal Imperial Cadet Corps, the New Zealand team being second, and the Ta-smanian third. For this competition tliere were eligible to compete, in teams of eight. Imperial Cadets who were under sixteen years of age, representative of any province, State, Dominion, or Commonwealth of the British Enijure. Each member of tho winning team receives a bronze medal, presented by Lord Roberts. Service Rifle. Distances, 300 and 500 yards, hollowing are the scores of the first three teams: — UNITED SOUTH AFRICA.

CORONATION YEAR COMPETITION. The Earl Roberts Imperial Trophy Competition for 1911 is for Imperial cadet marksmen not over sixteen years of age, using service rifles. The regulations provide that: The education and defence authorities conjointly, at Home and overseas, shall be entitled to select and enter one team, representative of each province, county, Dominion, or country ■ overseas: standard figure targets of War Office pattern shall bo used; rifles-and sights shall be of the same pattern as used by the defence authorities for service use; the match is to he fired locally, on any range on any day between the dates January Ist and August 31st inclusive, and when once commenced is to be shot to a finish and not postponed for stress of weather or other reason. .

The teams are to consist of eight cadets with two cadet non-commissioned officers as captain and vice-captain, who avail not fire with the team; are to bo under the general supervision of a commissioned officer, (range master) appointed by the Defence, Minister, who will see that the conditions are faithfully observed. A team shall fire as two squads of four men, each under the Command of a cadet non-commissioned , officer, who shall direct and control'.the fire of his men. IThcre shall he eight targets in each stage, -and the whistlfe signal controlling fire shall apply to all the squads firing. ■ . The match shall he . fired in three stages: (1).
