SOLICITOR'S HASTY WORDS

PEESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, November 22. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day Mr C. J. Schnauer, solicitor, was called. Mr J. R. Reed, appeared for Mr Schnauer, and said ho understood that gentleman was called upon to show cause why he should not bo committed for contempt of court for having made use of words to the effect that some action of his Worship was unfair. Ho wished to state at once that Mr Schnauer had no intention whatever of committing contempt of conrt. He had practised some time now in Auckland, and there had never yet been any friction between the Bench and Mr Schnauer. The whole of ,the trouble arose out of a misapprehension. Mr Kettle said he was quite satisfied to accept the assurance on behalf of Mr Schnauer that he acted under a misapprehension, and had no intention of committing contempt of court. Ho was ready to accept the explanation. He was sorry that tho incident had happened.
