A case decided in London a couple oi months since should bo homo in mind by all those who make claims under policies of insurance. A jeweller in a small way of business, who was insured against loss by burglars, claimed against the insurance company for £SOO, being tho value of goods which he alleged had been stolen from his premises by burglars. Tho jompany defended he action upon two grounds first, that tho promises had never been entered by burglars and that no robbery had taken place. The second lino of defence was, assuming that a burglary had taken place, the total value of his loss did not exceed £l5O. Tho jury found that his premises had bon robbed, and that his total loss was £l5O. Upon these findings judgment was entered for the company upon the ground that his claim was fraudulent and released the company from any liability to pay‘under the policy.
