FBOIX OIJB OWN COBBESPONDEKT. SUPPLYING FOXTON WITH WATER i FROM LEVIN. Levin is now enjoying a high pressure water supply, and this has brought about a request from the Foxton Borough Council as to whether Levin can supports town with water, and, if so, at what cost. On Wednesday evening the Levin Borough Council met to consider the matter. The Mayor moved : "That this council, having had satisfactory evidence placed before it in regard x to the water supply of the Ohnu, is now prepared to enter into negotiations with the Foxton Borough Council to supply tho borough, of Foxton with water from tho Levin mains/* This was seconded by Councillor Cameron, and all the councillors, in speaking to tho motion, favoured the scheme. CATHOLIC CONVENT AT LEVIN. Some time ago the Catholic Church people purchased a section of land in tho I neighbourhood, of tho public school, in- : tending, when funds permitted, to build a convent. At present' a number •of children attend tho Otaki convent from places along the line northwards, ami it was felt that such an institution at Levin would receive strong support. Thh week tho annual concert in aid of the convent was held at tho Town Hall, ami vas a pronounced success, enabling flic promoters to devote a substantial sum to the object in view. MISCELLANEOUS. The Anglican Church people have decided to purchase a section of land at Woraroa from Mr V. B*»rfhol«ruPw, with the intention of erecting a building Kiiitable for church services and Sunday school. A hockey match was played on Wednesday at ManaJcau between the Levin Rovers and the Manakau Club. The final score stood—Rovers, 4; Manakau, 2.
