The Mioses Rutherford, of Thompson street, have booked passages by the Tainui, which sails to-day.

Mr and Mrs Gordon, of Scotland, who have been staying at the Royal Oak Hotel, have gone to Bay's Bay House.

The Misses Turner are giving a> tea to-<lay for the Misßes Humphreys, svho are. visiting AYeUington. from New Plymouth.

Guests at the Hotel Windsor include: —Mr and Mrs Toogood and Mrs J. Card, of Featherstori, Mrs Thompson, Sydnev, Mr and Mrs Alee Maodonald and Miss Macdonald, of Christchurch.

Mrs Morton gave a tea at the luosk yesterday afternoon in honour of Mis Morton, sen., who leaves for Australia shortly. . The tables were artistically decorated with yellow flowers. Mrs Morton, sen., wore black, and the hostess was in pale blue.

Mrs Matthewson, of Oriental Bay, gave a kitchen tea yesterday in honour of Miss M. McAnally, who is to be married shortly. Tea was served in the draw-ing-room, which was artistically decorated with scarlet .flowers. Mrs Matthewson wore a mulberry silk frock with a vest of cream lace, and the guest of honour wore cream .silk and a smart black hat trimmed with bows of silk lace; During the afternoon songs were sung/ and selections were rendered on a fine gramaphone, which was located in the-vestibule. The windows of the drawing-room command a fine view of the harbour, and the grim warships in the foreground oompleted a charming picture. Miss McAnaily was the recipient of a number of useful kitchen utensils, which combined utility with oraamentality.

Miss Rene Tingey gave a "handkerchief" tea at her heme yesterday in honour of Miss Gertrude Pringle, who is to be married in a fortnight's time. The rooms were prettily decorated, the flowers used in the drawing-room and music-room being Christmas roses. In the dining-room the soft light of yellow fairy lamps illuminated the artistically decorated table on which appetising dainties were abundant. Miss Rene Tingey wore a black silk skirt and dainty lace blouse finished with pale blue satin buttons. Mrs Tingey wore black silk voile,'and Miss Tingey, who has recently returned from England, wast in navy blue "silk. The guest' of honour woref a: dainty pale blue Sicilienne princess frock and a black hat. During the afternoon songs were contributed ," by* Misses , Cohen, Tait, . and Smith. Miss Hart recited, and Miss G. Pringle played a violin salo. Miss Muriel Pringle played several solos.

Yesterday afiternoon a very enjoyable; brio-a-brao tea was given by Madame. Mueller and Miss Mueiler to Miss Nettie Levestam on the occasion of her approaching marriage. During the' after-i' noon a bright programme of musio was rendered by the following :—Madame Mueller, Mrs Reed, and the Missed Levestam, Mueller, Baker, and Edwards. A guessing competition was entered vhtoi with much interest, and was won by_ Mrs A. Burt. The tables were beautifully decorated with white lilies and cactus dahlias. The hostess,received in a froak of heliotrope silk and point lace. Miss. Mueller wore cream, Miss Penney (Hastings), bronze silk; Miss Nettie Levestamj oream cloth with black hat; Miss Levestam, white; Mrs F. Levestam,' grey. Among those present weTe Mesdames Halse, Jones, Sloan, Fletcher,' Ballinger, Lamb, Robinson, Remington, Toler-Curtis, Edwards, and Reed, and the Misses McLean-, Tomlinson, Perrott, Paul, Hargraves, Fitohett, Rogers, and Pickett. • v' .•■'■ •-
